Hi
Just out of curiosity - did you try the ebuild?
I just downloaded the latest source from 42tools and compiled it.
http://svn.42tools.net/repos/brutus-idl/trunk/
The sample is down in "samples/C". You need to adapt the top-level
sample Makefile for Gentoo, but that should be rather trivial.
I downloaded the files using "svn checkin" and compiled and it fails. I have already installed Orbit2 and libIDL.

Thank you.

Best regards,
Nazeer

Hi Nazeeruddin,
Hi Jules,
Thank you for your effort.
My pleasure :-)
We are trying to use Brutus. We installed Brutus Server on a Win
2003 server and we tried evolution plugins from Gentoo, Open SuSE
10.2 and Debian. None of them worked. There is communication between
Brutus and Evolution but communication between exchange and Brutus.
All of the above distributions has been tested and found to work, so
the error is most likely somewhere in the configuration of Brutus
Server. Did you check the Brutus Server log (brutus.log) for clues?
What do the Windows event log tell you?
A common error is lack of sufficient privileges for Brutus Server or
the user which is trying to connect using a Brutus client.
I am using evolution 2.6.3 with evolution-brutus plugin version
1.1.27. It will be very useful for us if you could mail which
versions actually work.
Wow, these versions are almost from antiquity! Please update to at
least e-b 1.2.x. It would help if you attempted to build from source
if you are locked to "evo-2.6". It is so old that I do no longer
support it.
Also, are there any tools for debugging brutus and evolution
connectivity.
The sample apps in the brutus-idl repository are good at testing
connectivity with. Also, please subscribe to brutus-list(*) where
these sort of questions are best treated. Using e-b on Hardy seems to
be a fairly commonly asked feature these days and I'm sure others will
chime in and help get it going too.

OK. You can also do "make distfiles". That will give you an ebuild
which will play nice with portage.

Failed how? Please observe that the sample build system is somewhat
crude. It is expected that you modify the top-level Makefile. INCLUDE
and LDFLAGS must be adapted to your platform.
